Merriam Community Center
Benson Method served as the day-to-day Owner's Representative point-of-contact for the City of Merriam, overseeing the construction of their new $36.6 million, 66,000 SF aquatic and community center. Strategically located across Ikea Way, just east of Merriam City Hall and the police department, this facility was designed to become a vibrant hub for residents.
Throughout the project, Benson Method acted as a dedicated advocate for the City, expertly managing all facets including design, construction, budgeting, scheduling, accounting, and all communication activities. Our involvement began with the crucial solicitation and selection of the design and construction team, providing the City with essential expert advice to ensure the right partners were chosen. We also actively participated in the public involvement components of the project, fostering citizen support throughout the design phase.
Construction for the new community center commenced in Fall 2018, leading to a successful opening in Summer 2020. The completed facility boasts an impressive array of amenities, including indoor and outdoor aquatic features, an indoor walking/running track, a full-sized gymnasium, a convenient child-watch area, and a 200-stall parking garage. This site also notably became home to the Antioch Library for Johnson County, further enhancing its role as a central community asset.
