Lenexa Civic Center

Benson Method was part of a collaborative team serving as Owner's Representative for the City of Lenexa, managing the City's interests of the $75 million, 200,000 SF Lenexa Civic Center.

Our role encompassed the management of design, construction, budgeting, scheduling, accounting, and all communications activities, ensuring seamless coordination and transparent progress. The project reached its successful completion in July 2017, delivering a transformative civic hub for the community.

The Lenexa Civic Center features a state-of-the-art community center complete with expansive fitness and aquatics facilities, alongside two multi-use gymnasiums equipped for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball, and notably, the metro area’s largest indoor track. The complex also houses a new City Hall, including a 250-seat auditorium, and is supported by a convenient five-story parking garage. A vibrant civic plaza serves as a focal point, hosting a farmer's market, and a unique 10,000 square-foot public market, a concept unprecedented in the Kansas City region.

Furthermore, the entire campus was designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification for both the City Hall and Recreation Center. Benson Method's oversight ensured the realization of a truly integrated, sustainable, and community-centric development.
